Local 70's calle Contamina PREMISE IN CONTAMINA STREET

In Madrid and Barcelona people fight for premises with this type of façade. Its 70s façade made of stainless steel is representative of the art of its age.

Unfortunately, in Zaragoza the section of urbanism of Zaragoza City Council considers that only the art previous to 1949 is artistic and forces to dismantle the façade to reuse the premise.
Meanwhile, other much more wild aesthetic attacks like the one of the next pictures are still there surrounded by excavations that nobody knows where are going to lead us.

cagada GUIPUZCOAN BANK
Independence Avenue

Example of something that should never happen: a building similar to a chocolate cake emerges like a nightmare between two classic buildings from the city. Its fantastic design and advanced concept is erased simply by the place where is constructed.
This "jewel" should be knocked down stone by stone and placed anywhere in the Monegros desert where surely would be a point of tourist and architectonic attraction.

We want to stand out that in the early 90s with that fever of "No-neon sign-in-the-Avenue", the sign that crowned this building ("Banco Guipuzcoano") was dismantled. But the oxidized metallic structure that held it was left there. Zaragoza City Council must think how nice is to see this scrap iron decorating the roof.

GUIPUZCOAN BANK Vs. VOLTAIC STREETLIGHTS
Independence Avenue

Finally we can see the result of the works in Independence Avenue.

The oxidized scrap iron on the Guipuzcoan Bank is still there in spite of having invested million euros in "fixing" this via. This fact confirms that Zaragoza City Council loves this kind of thing upon the building.

Streetlights are witnesses of it. We love their design since they remember us the electrodes of a voltaic arc.

The "Blade Runner" style of these streetlights should be extended to other areas in the city that are newer and usually victims of a vulgar and conformist urban design (Actur District, University Polygon, Cesáreo Alierta Prolongation etc.)"
la Peineta o el Coliseo THE ORNAMENTAL COMB OR THE PORTILLO COLISEUM
Corner Mª Agustín Avenue with Madrid Avenue

In the point of heaviest traffic in the city, the noise and contamination make of this building a jail for their inhabitants who cannot enjoy their terraces.

For that reason we propose to profit from this sad situation. (SEE NEXT PICTURE).
Picadilly Portillo PICCADILLY CIRCUS IN ZARAGOZA
Corner Mª Agustín Avenue - Madrid Avenue

This is the proposal of Zaragoza of Luxe to have in Spain a Piccadilly Circus or a Times Square as in London and New York giving our city a more cosmopolitan atmosphere in views to Expo 2008.
